January Stamp Club Card

At stamp club this month, we made a card and a 3D item.  Today I would like to share the card with you. It is made from the same sketch I used for my Leadership card swap. We used an assortment of prints from the Fresh Print paper stack. Each person was able to choose their favorite for the card. I also brought a variety of stamps to add to the card.  So each card was a bit different--so much fun.

Sale-A-Bration Begins!!!!!

I am so excited.  This is my favorite part of the Stampin' Up year and this year is no exception.  In my opinion, the "FREE" items this year are top notch.  The card today uses several.   They include the Sweet Sorbet DSP, Decorative Dots folder, and Petal Parade Stamp Set. 

The Sweet Sorbet DSP features a beautiful color palette - Pistachio Pudding, Pool Party, Crisp Cantaloupe, Sahara Sand, Summer Starfruit, Basic Black and Whisper White. The patterns are fresh and clean.  They can be used to make all types of cards:  Birthday, Wedding, Baby, Thank You, Sympathy for all ages and genders.

Initially, I was not thrilled about the Petal Parade Stamp Set.  That was before I began to see samples on the internet.  Again SU has proven me wrong--this such a fun set to use.  It makes beautiful backgrounds for sentiments.  Aren't the combination of scallops in the DSP and the Decorative Dots texture great together?

Paper Pal Arts Sketch Challenge-PPA 189

Oh, the possibilities!  With this week's sketch challenge, Resident Artist Nicole Watt has created a template that will support any type of card - birthday, thank you, sympathy.  I chose to make a Birthday card.  

The bright colors in the Kaleidoscope Designer Series Paper from the Occasions catalog are perfect.  This card features Strawberry Slush, Bermuda Bay, and Crushed Curry, just a few of my favorites.  The geometric patterns are so cheerful.

The stack of presents is from a popular Christmas set this year, Wishing You.  I am always looking for ways to use my Stampin' Up supplies in new and different ways.  My favorite texture folder from the Occasions Catalog is the Arrows Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  Either side looks great.  Just a small piece adds so much to this card.  The "Happy Birthday" sentiment is a sneak peek from the Annual Catalog which we received at Leadership this year.  Everyone at Leadership were "So Very Happy" to receive another  brand new stamp set.  A big part of the fun at Stampin' Up events are the freebies.  Leadership was full of delightful surprises.  Stay tuned for more samples using this set.

January Paper Pumpkin and Promotion

My Paper Pumpkin arrived a week ago.  It is always treat to open my mailbox and find my monthly 30 minute escape. This month there was an extra surprise, a package of In Color Boutique Details.  What a great surprise?

Freshly Made Sketches 120

Sketch Challenges are a great starting point for any card.  I have always admired the Freshly Made Sketch Challenge but never gotten around in time to post a card using one.  So it is my intention (notice I did not use "resolution") this year, to do more challenges.  

The sketch this week features Banners.  I recently got the brand new Banner Framelits Dies.  There are 6 different sizes to choose from.  I used 3rd and 4th to make the banners on this card. One from Crisp Cantaloupe cardstock and one from Sweet Sorbet DSP. 

Check out the Arrows Textured Impressions Embossing folder on the Pool Party Coordinations Cardstock.   Be sure to sand lightly after embossing.  Just beautiful!  Have I convinced you that this folder is a must have?

The "You make the World a Better Place" was cropped with the new Starburst Framelits. The stamp set and  coordinating framelits are bundle priced.  It was stacked on a Label cut from a piece of Kaleidoscope DSP.  Stampin' Dimensionals are the perfect size to add dimension to your cards without too much bulk.

Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch #77

It is time for another challenge.  I am always encouraging the girls in my Stamp Clubs to use their stampin' supplies.  As crafters, it is very easy to become collectors.  My intention to participate in more challenges online should help me practice what I preach. 

Here is the simple Paper Craft Crew sketch for this week.

And here is my version.

The color scheme for this card was taken from the Fresh Prints Paper Stack, new in the Occasions Catalog.   Coastal Cabana, Real Red, Crumb Cake, and Whisper White.  I have been using this paper like crazy.  It is a great buy at $6.95- 48 sheets.  4 each of 12 double sided designs 4 1/2" X 6 1/2".  The patterns are all great.  Not a bad one in the bunch.

The sentiment is from the "Love You to the Moon" stamp set.  It was cropped with the Chalk Talk Framelits and layered on a frame of Real Red.

I used the Boho Blossom punch to make a little accent flower.  A Real Red Candy Dot was added to the center of the flower

Mojo Monday 329

Typically, Monday is not my favorite day of the week.  But I enjoyed a day off on Martin Luther King Day. I am used it to work on some paper projects, which was fun.  I have so many new products to try out between the Occasions Catalog and the Sale-a-bration brochure.

The sketch designed by Teresa Kline for Mojo Monday this week is exceptional.  I have made several cards this week using it as my inspiration.

 

I knew I wanted to use the "you make me HAPPY" stamp from the See Ya Later set in the Sale-a-bration brochure.  It is such a cute set with great sentiments.  There have been several clean and simple cards posted recently which use this stamp with the sun and clouds.  Here is my version.

The combination of Crushed Curry, Bermuda Bay, and Basic Black really pop against the Whisper White background.  The Starburst framelits makes a great sun and the Cupcake Builder punch makes the cutest little clouds.  I punched the clouds from Smoky Slate and inked the edges to give them some depth.  The Decorative Dots folder was used to add texture to the Bermuda Bay piece.  I think they look like big rain drops.  What do you think?  Every card needs a little bit of bling - check out the silver ribbon and the Designer Rhinestones.

Vivid Vases- Leadership 2014

The make'n'take evening at Leadership was such fun.  Each participant received the Vivid Vases stamp from the Occasions Catalog.  It is a great stamp to watercolor.  The bright colors in the Kaleidoscope Designer Series Paper set off the image perfectly.

Love is in the Air

I just love the color combination of Coastal Cabana and Real Red for Valentine cards and decorations.
Check out this card that uses the Fresh Prints DSP paper stack.  This 4 1/2" X 6" stack will not disappoint. l The patterns are so cute and the colors include Coastal Cabana, Real Red, Crumb Cake, and Whisper White.

I used the "Love You to the Moon" stamp set.  It has 7 different sentiments which are perfect for all occasions, not just Valentine's Day.  Pennants were cut from several different Fresh Prints patterns and the polka dots were stamped with the stamp from Perfect Pennants.  I love the clean and simple look of this sketch.  You could change up the sentiment to apply to any occasion.

Blendabilities Alcohol Based Markers

Leadership announcements last week included the new alcohol ink markers which will be available soon from Stampin' Up.  Here is a picture of the colors which will be available.  There will also be a pack which will include flesh tone colors.

Here's the scoop. . . 

They will come in packs of three for $11.95

• There will also be a group of skin toned markers and one is like an eraser!
• We will also have a new Memento Black ink pad which is perfect for alcohol based markers.  You are going to love it!
• They will be available some time in first quarter of this year
• We may get more colors if the response is positive.
• Stampin' Write markers will continue to be in our catalog.
• I will share a picture of the actual markers when they are available.

If you have never used this type of marker, you are in for a treat.  They blend beautifully.

Pals Swap for Leadership 2014

Hello from Houston!  It has been a while but I am re-energized and you will be hearing from me regularly in the coming days.  I am spending a few days with my friend, Rhonda, before returning to the cold weather in Kansas.


I had a great time at Stampin' Up Leadership 2014.  I am so proud to be associated with Stampin' Up.  They strive to be innovative, are responsive to the needs of their customers, and their products are the best!

Wednesday evening the Pals got together for a Sip and Swap at a venue in downtown Houston.  There was a lot of conversation, delicious food, gifts, and a swap with the Pals.  What could be better?  We were encouraged to use new product from the Occasions Catalog and the Sale-a-bration brochure. Here are pictures of my cards for swap.

The Modern Medley Designer Series Paper is the perfect background for the new products.  I used a card base of Basic Black.  The next layer was the 4" X 5 1/4" piece of Modern Medley.  Very Vanilla was layered over Real Red.  The row of little banners were made with the Banner Blast Stamp set or Banner punch from the Sale-a-brations brochure.  The sentiments from See You Later(Sale-a-brations) or Perfect Pennants(Occasions Catalog were stamped in Staz'On Black Ink..  Accents of Real Red ink, Red Glimmer paper, and Gold Baker's Twine(Occasions Catalog) were added.
