Snowman Treat

I am thrilled to be the Guest Stamper for Mary Fish at Stampin' Pretty today.  The exposure on Mary's blog is just one of the perks of being a member of the Pals downline.  I really appreciate you hopping over to check out my project today.  Please take time to leave a comment.

I am always looking for different ways to use my Stampin' supplies.  When I ran across this snowman by Becky Evans on Pinterest, I just had to make one of my own.  This little guy is the perfect fit for a gift card or a small treat.  Christmas is just around the corner and I have been on the lookout for creative ways to package gift cards.

Today's project is just another way to use the Envelope Liner Framelits.  These framelits come in three sizes.  This little guy was cut with the smallest die.

Tips and Tricks

  • By scoring the 8 1/2" X 11" sheet of Whisper White at 4 1/4", three snowmen will fit on one sheet of card stock.
  • Lay the inside of the die along the fold and you will only need to use sticky strip along the sides of the snowman.
  • When cutting through two layers of card stock, be sure to run it through your Big Shot forwards and then back.
  • Cut the hat from a 2' X 3' piece of Basic Black card stock using the smallest die again.  This will layer right over the white piece.
  • The eyes, nose, hat band, and flower were all cut from scraps of paper. When I have scraps from a project, I punch out different sizes of circles, triangles and flowers to be used later. A great place to store these are the empty wood Stampin' UP cases which are sold in sets of three.
  • The key to a great project is the right adhesive.  I use Sticky Strip or Fast Fuse on most of my 3-D projects for extra strong holding power. Using Stampin' Dimenshionals to pop up the flower and the eyes on the snowman really make him come alive.  Glue dots are perfect for using with our Glimmer Paper.
  • Use our sponge daubers and a little ink to make rosy cheeks.  Remember a little bit of ink goes a long way, so sponge lightly.  You can always add more color if you need it.
  • The are so many ways to make a carrot nose.  Today, I used half of a Pumpkin Pie triangle. You can also use the the tip of Pennant Builder or the brand new Tree punch for a triangle shape.

The Envelope Liner framelits come in three sizes.  Can't you see it now, a whole family of snowmen: the Papa, the Mama and the Baby. Check out the matching card made using the medium size die. When cutting out the card, remember to lay the folded card stock inside the left side of the die.

Can you see it now?  A Scarecrow, a Santa, and other characters made using this same idea.  Come back later this week for more inspiration.
