Merry Christmas Wreath

I am dreaming of a White Christmas in August.  The temperatures in Kansas are inching towards 100 this week.  After a few weeks of beautiful fall like weather, it is hot!  I am hoping to keep cool by working on some Christmas projects.

These two cards feature some of the products from the Holiday catalog.  The Expression Thinlits, the Wonderful Wreath stamp, and Seasons of Style Designer Series Paper Stack.  They make  quite a statement without much time and effort.

Magnificent Maple

The card today is one I case'd from Sandi MacIver.  It is a quick and simple card.  I often get inspiration from Pinterest.  Sometimes I choose to case and other times I just use a technique or color combination.
Last weekend, I exhibited at a local crop, which was put on by
S & S Cropping for a Cause.  For a $1 donation, an attendee could make this card in one of two color combinations.  If you live in the area around Topeka, Ks., these events are put on by two wonderful women, Shelly and Stacy.  The proceeds always go to a worthy cause and we really have a great time.  The next one is scheduled for September 21st.

Holiday Catalog Favorites

2013aughop_badge

Thank you for joining us for the August Pals Blog Hop. Even though it's only August we want to provide some inspiration for your upcoming holiday projects. This month's blog hop will showcase new products from the 2013 Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog. We hope you enjoy seeing how we use the new stamps, new punches and other accessories!

You should have just left stop number 18 on the Pals Hop - Patti MacLeith at Papercrafts by Patti. If so, you are in the right spot.  If you get off track, the full blog lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you see all of the amazing creations.

As you will probably notice in the coming weeks, I love the Holiday Catalog and want it all.  This weekend I worked on 3 different banners made with the Build a Banner Simply Created Kit.  I had so much fun.  They are easy to make and so cute.  Be sure to visit my blog in the days ahead as I will be posting these projects soon.
I am always looking ways to use my Stampin' Up products in new ways.  So here are a couple of Halloween cards that use one of the Banner templates and an extra supply from the Halloween Kit.  What do you think?

Don't you just love the polka dots?  I used daubers and the polka dot template, so easy.  I added the spider and web, which I didn't use on my "Spooky" banner.

It is easy to use different color combinations.  The sentiments on both cards are from the NEW Halloween Bash Stamp Set.

Card Details
Stamp Set:  Halloween Bash
Paper:  Basic Black, Very Vanilla, and Witches' Brew DSP
Ink:  Pumpkin Pie and Staz'On Black

The Six-Sided Sampler forms the cutest flower.  You can choose to use the same hexagon stamp or a combination to make a variety flower shapes.  The "Hello Sweet Friend" fits perfectly.  The Bermuda Bay and Calypso Coral make a such pretty combination.  The card front was run through the Big Shot in the Chevron Texture Folder.

Guest Stamper on Stampin' Pretty

I am so pleased to be the guest stamper on Mary Fish's Stampin' Pretty blog.  It is such an honor and wonderful exposure.  If you are visiting, please let me know what you think of my project.  I really appreciate your comments.

This was my first year to attend the Stampin' Up Convention in Salt Lake City.  It was wonderful and I can't wait to go again next year.  I do regret not attending the training session with Carrie Cudney.  It got rave reviews from all who attended and a few have shared photos of her multi-media projects online.  They are so cute!  It really got me thinking about making a few of my own.

Tips and Tricks
  • I used Modge Podge to adhere the Witches' Brew DSP to the 6" X 6" canvas.
  • When using the Positively Chevron or any large background stamp, you can ink it randomly.  The results give the impression of something which is worn or old.
  • Bits and pieces of washi tape were added randomly to the canvas.  I particularly like the Pumpkin Pie chevron and the Basic Black skulls.  Try tearing the tape for more interest.
  • Pumpkins are easy to make by using 3 oval shapes.  You can use any of our oval punches or framelits to make different sizes of pumpkins.  I used the Extra-Large Oval punch for the pumpkin on this project.
  • The Halloween Hello stamp set was perfect for this project.  The witch flying by, the candy corn, wrapped candy, and the cute little sign were all done using stamps from this set.
  • The ghost was made by using one of the Oval framelits. The top of the Very Vanilla was made with the framelit and the bottom was cut with my paper snips.
  • Gorgeous Grunge is my new favorite because I seem to be using it on every card.  The "skid marks" and random dots were added to the friendly little ghost.

Project Details
Stamp Sets:  Gorgeous Grunge, Halloween Hello, Positively Chevron
Paper:  Witches' Brew, Very Vanilla, Pumpkin Pie, Basic Black, Old Olive, Crushed Curry
Ink:  Pumpkin Pie, Black Staz'On, Smoky Slate
Cool Tools:  2 1/2" Circle Punch, Extra Large Oval, Oval Framelits, Artisan Punch, Bitty Punch Pack, White Signo Pen, Sponge Daubers.
Non-Stampin' Up products:  Modge Podge and Wrought Iron Acrylic Paint

Six-sided Sampler Wreath

Do you need an idea for a quick and simple Christmas card?  Check out this card which used the Six-sided Sampler Bundle from the Annual Catalog.  You could easily step it up by adding texture, candy dots, and ribbon.

I stamped 12 Gumball Green hexagons and punched them out with hexagon punch.  Then I arranged them on my Whisper White card front, which was added to a Real Read card base.  I punched out 9 circles with the Bitty Punch Pack.  Of course, my wreath needed a little bling so I added a Designer Rhinestone to each of the clusters of the red berries.

Card Details
Stamp Sets:  Six-Sided Sampler and Sassy Salutations
Paper:  Real Red and Whisper White
Ink:  Real Red and Gumball Green
Cool Tools:  Hexagon and Bitty Punch Pack
Accessories:  Designer Rhinestones and Stampin' Dimensionals
