Serene Silhouettes

The Serene Silhouettes stamp set just doesn't get the attention it deserves.  It is great for all occasions and suitable for both masculine and feminine themes.

This card combines Crumb Cake and Pool Party.  I added a background of En Francais embossed in white (one of my favorite techniques recently).  The image was stamped in Black Staz'On and a sponge dauber was used to add color to the entire image and background.  I used an oval framelit to cut out a frame in Very Vanilla, which was popped up using Stampin' Dimensionals.  A birthday sentiment from Bloomin' with Kindness was stamped in black on the frame.  A small butterfly was added.  Check out the paper piercing around the oval!  Doesn't it add great detail.

Card Details
Stamp Sets:  Serene Silhouettes, Bloomin' with Kindness, En Francais
Paper:  Very Vanilla and Crumb Cake
Ink:  Black Staz'On, Versamark, Pool Party
Tools:  White Embossing Powder and Heat Tool, Bitty Butterfly Punch, Occasions Paper Piercing Pack, Stampin' Dimensionals.

I have more cards to share using Serene Silhouettes so check back often.

Triple Time Stamping

I am a fan of Sandi MacIver's creations on Pinterest.  I recently ran across a beautiful card and video that Sandi had posted.  I just had to give this technique a try.  Check out her blog for more information.

I used different sentiments from the "Made for You" stamp set which is retiring on June 3rd.  Get it while you can!  Not sure, my cards are as gorgeous as Sandi's but I can't wait to use this technique again.  I love how the white embossed flowers "pop" when the Crumb Cake ink is added using the Sponge Dauber.

Card Details:
Stamp Sets:  Fabulous Florets, Secret Garden, Made for You
Paper:  Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake
Ink:  Real Red, Baja Breeze or Coastal Cabana, Crumb Cake, Lucky Limeade, Versamark

Dymamic Duos and Create with Connie and Mary

I decided to take the leap and try a couple more challenges this week.  In the past I have participated in a few Mojo Monday challenges and several Paper Pal Arts challenges.  But the time has come to branch out!  So here I go.

Here is my interpretation of the sketch from Create with Connie and Mary using the colors from Dynamic Duos.  The card also showcases a few new products you will be able to order from the 2013-2014 Annual Catalog beginning on Friday.

The card base is 5 1/2" X 8 1/2" piece of Bashful Blue card stock scored at 4 1/4". The card front is 4" X 5 1/4" piece of Bashful Blue which was run through the Big Shot in the NEW Mosaic Texture Folder.  I cut one pennant from Midnight Muse and a second from Whisper White.  These were layered after the Whisper White piece was run through the Big Shot in the Chevron folder.  The sentiment is from the NEW Round Array Stamp Set.  Such a simple design with lots of texture!

Card Details
Stamp Set:  Round Array
Paper:  Whisper White, Midnight Muse, and Bashful Blue(Retiring soon)
Ink:  Midnight Muse
Tools:  Mosaic and Chevron texture folders, 1 3/8" Circle punch, 1 1/4"  and 7/8" Scallop Punches, Stampin' Dimensionals, and Paper Piercing tool.

Another Butterfly Card

I noticed this card on Angie Kennedy Juda's blog and was immediately impressed with it's simplicity.  Check out her blog at Chic'n Scratch, it is full of great ideas.
This is a Tent Topper Card.  I have made several cards using the same layout with different combinations of designer papers and cardstock.  They all turned out great!

Floral District Designer Series Paper, Calypso Coral and Lucky Limeade.

Sneak Peek Alert!  Strawberry Crush 2013-2014 In Color and Quatrefancy Specialty DSP.

Perfect Polka Dots DSP and Real Red cardstock

Patio Party DSP and Primrose Petals

This card will fit in a Medium Stampin' Up envelope.  The card base measures 4 1/4" X 8" and was scored at 4".  The DSP card front measures 4" X 4".  The topper was made by layering two of the Window Pane framelits- the 3rd and 4th in the set.  I used the Festive Piercing Pack to add detail to the background piece.  A Butterfly image from the Best of Butterflies set was stamped on Whisper White using Staz' On Black.  A sentiment from Delightful Dozens was stamped below the butterfly.  I used a sponge dauber to add a little color to the butterfly.  A rhinestone was added to the butterfly body and ribbon was added below the topper.
Hint:  Use your Grid Paper to help line up the topper on the card.  Place the card base in the lower left hand corner of the grid paper.  Add adhesive to the bottom of the topper and line it up on the card base using the 5 1/2 " measurement on the grid paper to be sure the card will fit in your envelope.

Card Details
Stamp Sets:  Best of Butterflies(April), Delightful Dozens
Paper:  Your favorite DSP pattern, Coordinating cardstock, and Whisper White.
Ink:  Black Staz'On Ink and coordinating ink.
Tools and Accessories:  Window Pane Framelits, Designer Rhinestones, Coordinating ribbon, Grid Paper, and Stampin' Dimensionals.

Here are my favorites.  Which one is your favorite?  I can't wait to try this layout with other stamp sets.  Which set will you use?

Mojo Monday

I want to share the card I made using this week's sketch.  The designer paper is from the DSP paper stack in the Spring Catalog.  It is a great collection of papers which feature the 2012-2014 In Colors.

Sneak Peek Alert!  Check out the Mosaic Texture folder and coordinating Mosaic Madness Stamp Set.  They will be available for purchase May 31st.  Be sure this one is on your list.

The card base is an 8 1/2" X 5 1/2"  piece of  Primrose Petals cardstock, which is scored at 4 1/4".  The card front is a 4" X 5 1/4" piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP).  I added strip of coordinating  DSP to form the band across the card.  I stamped and punched 3 mosaic pieces.  They were stacked on Crumb Cake  and Primrose Petals window frames.  I did add texture to the Crumb Cake background by running it through the Mosaic texture folder. The mosaic pieces fit perfectly on the Mosaic background. Did you notice the paper piercing around the Primrose Petals Window framelit?

Stamp Set:  Mosaic Madness, Itty Bitty Banners
Paper:  Print Poetry Paper Stack, Very Vanilla, Primrose Petals, Crumb Cake
Ink:  Primrose Petals, Raspberry Ripple

Today, I am using the Best of Butterflies. The images are beautiful and a great supplement to our Papillon Potpourri and Swallowtail stamps.  I also used images from Everything Eleanor, which will available again in the new catalog. Sneak Peek Alert:  I used the new Mosaic Texture folder.  It is quickly becoming a favorite.  Check out other demonstrator blogs for more ideas using the new Mosaic bundle and folder.

This card could be easily adapted for any occasion by switching the sentiment.  I used a sentiment from the Delightful Dozens set.  Check this one out!  It contains sentiments appropriate for many occasions.  If you are just getting started, it is a great choice.

Father's Day Card

As you may know, I am a big fan of Pinterest.  If you are struggling for a card idea, it is a great resource.  This past weekend, I pinned an example of a project using an envelope to make a packet to hold a candy bar.  It was made to resemble the front of a man's shirt.  I took this an the inspiration for my Father's Day card.

I used a Whisper White Stampin' Up envelope, which was sealed to make the card holder.  The sentiment was stamped on a 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" piece of Whisper White.  Two strips of Designer Series paper were added to the top of the card base. A gift card or candy bar could easily be placed inside the card holder.

The purse will hold 4-6 standard size cards and envelopes.  It is made from a single sheet of 12 X 12 DSP.  No cutting is involved, just scoring and folding.  The largest Floral framelit was added to form the flap of the purse.  Here are two card samples made from the coordinating DSP.  Wouldn't this make a cute gift for someone special!

Another Mosaic Madness Sneak Peek

As promised here is another card using the Mosaic Madness folder and Mosaic punch.  Again, I used Whisper White and Midnight Muse cardstock.

I used the Mosaic texture folder on the top portion of the card base.  Then I punched out four of the mosaic shapes across the card base.  Did you know the punch and folder coordinate perfectly?  A strip of Floral District DSP was added below the texture.  The Feels Good sentiment was stamped directly on the card base in Midnight Muse.

Nature Walk and Everything Eleanor

I want to share another card using products which will be retiring at the end of the month.  If you did not catch the Pals blog hop on Tuesday, please scroll down and check out my project.  Then follow along the hop to check out great projects from all of the Pals.

My favorite background stamp is the En Francais.  I used it to stamp Crumb Cake ink on Very Vanilla cardstock and then added some to the edge with a sponge dauber.  The birdcage from the Nature Walk set was stamped in the right hand corner of the card base.  Two pennants were added to the left side.  The sentiment, background, and flowers are all from the Everything Eleanor set.  I used Raspberry Ripple to stamp the flowers.  They are a muted color because I stamped off before stamping on Very Vanilla.  Then I used my Paper Snips to cut them out.  The sentiment was stamped in Island Indigo.  The background for the sentiment was stamped in Baja Breeze directly to the card base.

Card Details
Stamp Sets:  Everything Eleanor, En Francais, Nature Walk (retiring soon)
Paper:  Floral District, Very Vanilla and Baja Breeze (retiring soon)
Ink:  Crumb Cake, Early Expresso, Island Indigo
Tools and Accessories:  Paper Snips, Stampin' Dimensionals, Extra-Large Oval

Sneak Peek Mosaic Madness

The new catalog is coming, the new catalog is coming. . . .
I am excited because Stampin' Up has done it again.  The 2013-2014 Catalog is better than ever.  I love the presentation, the photography, and last but not least the new products.  They have added bundles to the annual catalog which is so exciting.  By purchasing product bundles you will save 15% and be ready to make some great projects.
I want to share a quick and easy card using the new Mosaic Madness bundle and Modern Mosaic texture folder.

I saw this card on Deb Valder's blog and had to try it. It is so simple yet stunning.  It was made from Whisper White and Midnight Muse cardstock so there is a lot of contrast. The Mosaic Madness folder adds beautiful detail to Whisper White cardstock.  I can't wait to use it on colored cardstock and try adding ink to the folder for a different look.  I have a few ideas bouncing around in my head so check back for other samples.

Card Detail
Stamp Sets:  Mosaic Madness and Friendly Phrases (retiring soon)
Paper:  Whisper White and Midnight Muse
Ink:  Midnight Muse
Accessories:  Mosaic punch

If you are a beginning stamper, give this card a try.  It uses a minimal number of supplies and by changing the sentiment it would be appropriate for any occasion.

Stamp Club Project #2

There are so many great tutorials on line.  So when Shirley, our May hostess, suggested making a lever card I took on the challenge.  I am always interested in trying something new.  I found a great tutorial written by Krissie O'Donnell and got started on my card. I have three slightly different versions to share with you today.

#1
#2
 #3

I think the third card is my favorite.  Here is what the card looks like when it is open.

If you decide to make a lever card, remember it does take some time to complete.  Cutting and adhering the two pieces of cardstock is the most difficult part.  I recommend using the Stampin' Up Trimmer to cut out the windows in the cardstock and DSP.  I have to admit that I have tried multiple brands and types of trimmers over the past seventeen years. Stampin' Up worked a long time to get this one right.  They did a good job and it has become my go to trimmer.  I am looking forward to trying the brand new rotary attachments in the 2013-2014 catalog.

Card Details
Stamp Sets:  Blooming with Kindness, Betsy's Blossoms, and One in a Million
Paper:  Birds of a Feather DSP, Sent with Love DSP, Crumb Cake, Island Indigo, Riding Hood Red, Raspberry Ripple, Whisper White.
Ink:  Raspberry Ripple, Island Indigo
Tools and Accessories:  Stampin' Trimmer, Designer Rhinestones, Chevron and Houndstooth Texture folders, Simply Scored, Window Pane framelits, 2 1/4" Scallop Punch.

Card Club Project #1

The 3-D project for our May Stamp Club is this cute little gift card holder.  Just in time for May graduations.  It was a quick project!  We used a 7" X 7" square, which was scored at 1 3/4" on all 4 sides. We cut away the small square from each corner and rounded the corners of each flap.  You may need to trim the sides on each flap slightly, if your holder does not lay flat when closed.  The Word Play sentiment, which will be retiring at the end of the month, was stamped in Versamark or Illuminate and Silver Embossing Powder was added and heat set. A black brad holds the cute little tassel in place.  It was made from a 1 1/2" X 2 1/4" piece of Summer Starfruit and 5" strand of Baker's Twine.  Don't forget you can dye your White Baker's Twine to match any project by using a sponge dauber and a coordinating ink pad or marker.  Such a great way to save a little money!  A
3 1/2" X 3 1/2" piece of Whisper White cardstock was stamped with the Congratulations sentiment.  You can use Glue Dots to attach a gift card.

 Details
Stamp Sets:  Curly Cute, Word Play
Paper:  Basic Black, Summer Starfruit and Whisper White
Ink:  Black Staz'On, Versamark or Illuminate
Accessories:  Black Brad, Silver Embossing Powder, White Baker's Twine

May Pals Blog Hop

Thank you for joining us for the May Pals Blog Hop and our annual retirement party! It's time to say goodbye to stamps and accessories that will not be available in the new  2013-14 Stampin' Up! catalog. Although it's always sad to see wonderful products retire, it is exciting to think about all of the new products that will soon be available. So enjoy the farewell tour for our favorite retiring products - and remember you have until June 3rd to order from the retiring product lists.
I am the 1st stop on the hop today.  You should have just left stop number 31 on the Pals Hop - Elaine Fleming at Studio Elaine. If so, you are in the right spot.  If you get off track, the full blog lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you see all of the amazing creations.

My project today uses several retiring products.  Nature Walk and Friendly Phrases are stamp sets I will miss.  Baja Breeze and Not Quite Navy have been two of my go-to colors.  HOWEVER, the new catalog has so much to look forward to. . .

The En Francais background stamp was embossed with White embossing powder on Whisper White Cardstock.  I used sponge daubers to apply Crumb Cake and Baja Breeze ink to make a soft background for my card base.  The sentiment, bird, flower, and birdcage images were stamped with Early Expresso on Very Vanilla.  I used Sticky Strip to adher the Baja Breeze Seam Binding to the card.  The Designer Builder brad adds more detail.  I used a mix of Champagne Mist Glimmer Paint and alcohol in one of Stampin' Up's wonderful spray bottles to add a glitz to this project.

Card Details
Stamp Sets:  En Francais, Nature Walk, Friendly Phrases
Paper:  Baja Breeze, Not Quite Navy, Whisper White, Very Vanilla
Ink:  Crumb Cake, Baja Breeze, Early Expresso, Versamark
Tools and Accessories:  Apothecary Accents, 2 1/2" Circle, Baja Breeze Seam Binding, Builder Brad, Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint, Fancy Fan Texture Folder, Sponge Daubers, Stampin' Dimensionals.

Quick and Easy CASE

Today, I would like to share a couple of cards that I case'd.  The idea for these cards was taken from Mary Fish's Stampin' Pretty blog.  I used the Elegant Butterfly and the Bitty Butterfly punches.  The Simply Scored Tool was used to score around the Whisper White card base at 1/2".  The Occasions Paper-Piercing Pack was used to pierce around the Elegant Butterfly, which was punched out.  The card front was popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals over a piece of Real Red Polka Dot Parade DSP.  This design is suitable for all occasions so a variety of sentiments can be stamped on the card front.  Don't you just love cards that can completed in 10 minutes or less.

More Swallowtail Ideas

As a member of the Stampin' Pretty Pals, I participated in a preview of the Spring Catalog.  It is so much fun to go through the catalog, identify favorite new products, and discuss ideas with such a talented group.  When it came to the Swallowtail background stamp, I was not interested.  It just didn't do much for me.  Well, here is the rest of the story. . . .
As you have probably noticed there are hundreds of ideas on Pinterest and demonstrator blogs featuring the Swallowtail.  I started to change my opinion and consider adding it to my Stampin' Up collection.  One of my downline, Belinda had ordered it and case'd a card designed by Mary Fish using the Pool Party embossing powder.  It was just stunning.  The detail of the butterfly is just amazing.  I was hooked and added it to my next order.
As you may have noticed, the theme for our Stamp Club projects in April was the butterfly.

Here is another card using the Swallowtail stamp!

The card base is an 8 1/2" x 11 piece of Crumb Cake, scored at 4 1/4".  The Swallowtail was stamped in Staz'On Black Ink on a piece of First Edition Designer Series Paper.  Then More Mustard and Bravo Burgundy were sponged on the butterfly.

Card Details
Stamp Sets:  Swallowtail and Amazing Family
Paper:  First Edition DSP (retiring in May), Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Basic Black.
Ink:  Black Staz'On, More Mustard, and Bravo Burgundy(retiring in May)
Tools and Accessories:  Early Expresso Embossing Powder, 1" Square Punch.
